Generation No. 1

1. Kari Pedersdatter Aftret, born June 24, 1859 in Selbu, Norway; died April 1944 in Northwood ND. She was the daughter of 2. Peder Larsen Aftret and 3. Karen Estensdatter Tuseth. She married (1) Paul Anderson Woken 1881 in Atwater MN. He was the son of Anders Johnson Eidem and Karen Paulsdatter Uglem.

Kari's actual (farm) name was Krokstad or Krogstad, rather than Aftret.

Generation No. 2

2. Peder Larsen Aftret, born 1823 in Selbu, Norway; died 1918 in Selbu, Norway. He was the son of 4. Lars Larssen Krogstad and 5. Giertrue Thomasdatter Lien. He married 3. Karen Estensdatter Tuseth.

3. Karen Estensdatter Tuseth, born 1823 in Flora, Norway; died and buried 1896 in Selbu, Norway. She was the daughter of 6. Esten Olssen Tuseth and 7. Ingeborg Torgersdatter Rolset.

The 1801 census lists an Aftret farm with 3 or 4 families. It is not clear how Peder came to have the farm name Aftret. Probably his parents, Lars Krogstad and Gertru moved to the Aftret farm for some reason.

Peder's actual (farm) name was Per Larssen Krokstad.  He was Naturalized: November 20, 1888, GF County, ND; vol F22, pg466

5. Giertrue Thomasdatter Lien, born 1786; died 1869. She was the daughter of 10. Thomas Jonssen Lien and 11. Kari Andersdatter Velve.

1801 census says Lars was single, with no occupation listed.

Lars' actual (farm) name was Lars Larssen Roensberg (Krokstad).

Stamtavle says his name was Lars Person Krokstad and his mother's surname was Ronsberg. Says Ustigarden and Selbu after his name.  And it says Gjertrude Tomasen (sic) Ner-Lia, with Nordigarden after her name, and Selbu after her death date.

6. Esten Olssen Tuseth, born 1794. He was the son of 12. Ole Olsen Tuset and 13. Ane Estensdatter. He married 7. Ingeborg Torgersdatter Rolset.

7. Ingeborg Torgersdatter Rolset, born Abt. 1790. She was the daughter of 14. Torger Olsen Stokkmon and 15. Kari Estensdatter Rolset.

Stamtavle says Esten was born 1792, and says Flora and Selbu after his name. No death date.  And it says Selbu after her name. In the death date field, it says 30 and then something else I can't make out.

Ingeborg may have gone by Ingeborg Floness. The 1801 census has info on the Flones farm, and 3 of the married women, aged 44, 55, and 62, were named Ingebor. However, no children named Ingebor. Perhaps Ingeborg was born after Feb 1801.

8. Lars Larssen Krogstad, born 1750; died 1828. He was the son of 16. Lars Tomassen Kallar and 17. Gjertrud Larsdatter Ner-Lia. He married 9. Brynil Estensdatter Kyllo.

9. Brynil Estensdatter Kyllo, born 1752; died 1839. She was the daughter of 18. Esten Olsen Kyllo and 19. Siri Pedersdatter Gresli Tydal.

1801 Census says Lars is in 1st marriage, and is a farmer and farm occupant  And it says Brynil is in her 1st marriage, no occupation listed.  There is also a Beret Estensdatter listed, possibly Brynil's sister (?) b 1747 m Ole Olssen (in 1st marriage) b 1748, a houseman with land. 5 children are listed b from 1780 - 1793.

11. Kari Andersdatter Velve, born 1745; died 1795. She was the daughter of 22. Arnt Jonsen Velve and 23. Gjertrud Tomasdatter Kallar.

1801 census says Thomas was a farmer and farm occupant in his 1st marriage, her 2nd.  

Stamtavle says Tomas Jonsen Lien-Stokke or Lile-Stokke, and Selbu afterward. Death date looks like it could be 1866, but that would mean he lived 111 years!  And it says Nordigarden after her name and Selbu after death date.

Children of Thomas Lien and Kari Velve are:

1801 census says Guri Olsdatter, who was in her 2nd marriage, his 1st. All children listed as "deres born" or their children. Later information from Jacobsen's Stamtavle, however, indicates that Guri must have been his 2nd wife, perhaps her 1st husband. Also, the first 3 children could not have been her natural born if the first wife lived to 1795. 1801 census also lists a Thomas Olssen, possibly Guri's brother, listed as a servant in her family, b 1769, marital status not listed. A national soldier in the "skieloberne," ski corp or ski patrol.

12. Ole Olsen Tuset, born 1745; died 1791. He was the son of 24. Ole Persen Heggset and 25. Marit Jonsdatter Tuset. He married 13. Ane Estensdatter.

13. Ane Estensdatter, born 1759; died 1847. She was the daughter of 26. Esten Andersen Gullset and 27. Ulu Olareg Nilsdatter Overvik.

Stamtavle says Flora after Ole's name.  And it says Anne Estensdatter Gullset, with Andersgarden after her name, and Selbu after death date.

No occupation listed for Ane in the 1801 census. There is also a Marit Estensdatter listed, possibly Ane's sister, listed as a servant girl to this family b 1769. No marital status or occupation listed.

Stamtavle says Ustigarden after his name. Strangely, he and his wife are also listed on the Stamtavle as the parents of their son's (Jon's) wife, Kari. This listing has Halvord Renaldsen Kleset b1796. All other info for both spouses matches exactly, including Ustigarden.  I assume the double listing is either incorrect, or that they adopted (more-or-less) their then/future daughter-in-law. Thus, I list no parents for Kari.
